For nearly two decades, Anna Lappé has been researching, writing, and organizing for food systems change. A national bestselling author, Anna is the recipient of the James Beard Leadership Award and a TIME magazine “eco” Who’s-Who. Anna has authored or co-authored three books on food, farming, and sustainability and contributed to more than a dozen others. Her most recent book, Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis and What You Can Do About It, was named an environmental book of the year by Kirkus. Her writing has been featured in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, among other outlets. Along with her work at Real Food Media, Anna is the co-founder of two other national organizations, the Small Planet Institute and Small Planet Fund, and works with partners nationwide to fund food system transformation. Her research on food and farming has taken her to more than 20 countries and 100 US cities. A native of California, after 17 years in New York City, she recently returned to the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and their two daughters. Point of pride: her kids love kale and consider persimmons the perfect dessert.
