Event Details

The New School at Commonweal and Real Food Media are thrilled to partner for a virtual speaker series this spring— The Roots of Resilience in An Age of Crisis— focused water, land, and seeds. In this moment of political and planetary crisis, we are excited to bring you conversations with leading thinkers and doers for deep conversations about the interconnectedness of these crises and how we find our way out. Our first event of the series is Stolen Land: The Struggle for Rematriation.

In this wide-ranging conversation, we’ll hear from UCSF Associate Professor of Medicine Dr. Rupa Marya along with Adae Briones of First Nations Development Institute discuss efforts around the country to take on the aftermath of centuries of government-sanctioned and led land dispossession and cultural decimation. Together with host, author Anna Lappé, Rupa and Adae will share strategies toward a vision to protect and uplift Native agroecological traditions, including efforts to rematriate thousands of acres of land across the country.
