Event Details

“BBQ  without Borders is a space to celebrate and honor our most vulnerable communities. We hope you can come eat something delicious, witness a spectacular performance, meet someone new, and walk away with a new experience.” —Dr. Vibha Gupta.

BBQ without Borders 2023, at the Oakland Museum of California,  is a place to celebrate immigration through the lens of regional Barbecue. Featuring Chef Lilly Duran of Clandestina Cocina, Chef Ron Dumra of Wah Jee Wah and Chef Tadayuki of the former Family Cafe; we will be serving delicious Cuban, Japanese and Indian BBQ (both vegetarian and non vegetarian options) along with specialty desserts, signature cocktails, beer, wine and sake. Live entertainment will take place throughout the night- we will have Taiko drummers, a Cuban Salsa band, Bhangra, Flamenco and even a little opera! We will also have an immersive exhibit exploring the lives and stories of our featured Chefs, a kids activities center, a raffle of amazing prizes and an interactive art exhibit.

Proceeds will benefit the newly-established Resilience Fund, designed to distribute micro grants to vulnerable Bay Area residents: recent arrivals, and those with varying levels of documentation and DACA status.

We’re thrilled to be a co-sponsor of this event!
