Event Details

This September marks the 50th anniversary of the seminal work Diet for a Small Planet, in which Frances Moore Lappé argued that cattle constitute “a protein factory in reverse.” As The New York Times puts it, “Frances Moore Lappé is one of the few people who can credibly be said to have changed the way we eat.” Since 1971, Lappé has authored or co-authored 20 books, including her latest It’s Not Too Late! Crisis, Opportunity, and the Power of Hope. Together with her daughter Anna Lappé, author of Diet for a Hot Planet, the two now focus on the intersections between democracy, environment, food, and justice. What are the implications of industrial agriculture on democracy and food justice – and can we really feed the world without it? And what are the connections between food justice and climate justice? Join ClimateOne for a conversation with Frances Moore Lappé and Anna Lappé.

And if you can’t make it, don’t worry! It will be recorded and turned into a podcast episode.
