Event Details

Despite the science about the harms of pesticides for people and the planet, pesticide use  continues to grow and many of the most toxic pesticides are still largely unregulated in most markets around the world. As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, what can we do to take action and stay inspired?

This lively and engaging session will bring together researchers and advocates taking on the agrochemical industry. We’ll hear from contributors to the Pesticide Atlas about the state of pesticide use around the world, from journalists who will share how industry uses PR tactics to deflect attention and action on this critical issue, and from campaigners who are using creative strategies to reduce the political influence of industry, promote agroecological solutions, and expose the harm of these chemicals. Ultimately, attendees will leave the session more informed about the impacts of pesticides, more savvy about industry misinformation, and more inspired than ever to take action.

This session will be followed by an interactive Q&A in Zoom.
